OMC has shown consistency in the production of ore and ore concentrate over the last 5 years. The production of iron ore has increased substantially from 34 lakh tonnes in 200506 to about 8 million tonnes in 200809. Similarly the production of chrome ore and chrome concentrate has been fairly consistent in the last 5 years.

Almost in entirety, the chrome ore used in both these countries are of South African origin. The rest of the market is made up of production in Kazakhstan (11%), India (10%), Finland (5%) and the rest of the world (6%) comprising of Scandinavia, Middle East, Malaysia, and Zimbabwe.
